Alpha Preview - Sound Delay In All Games X Series

Yea this i was trying when i was talking to suport will try it on my one x .

Series x runs now fine but my gues it is somthing whit the x box alpha preview update

I found that my soundbar SONY HT Z9F soundbar use HDMI 2.0 of which bandwidth is 18gbs connect to my TV using eARC port, so I changes my HDMI to

8K HDMI of which soundbar is 48gbs, and the delay improve a lot that it is hard to notice now.

I have tested. My set is

TV has enable eARC and set sound passthrough, HDMI BITSTREAM. XBOX SERIES allows PASSTHROUGH.

XBOX SERIES X --> LG 65 QNED90 --> SONY HT Z9F (eARC)

there is very noticeable delay on Atmos but don't have delay on any uncompressed sound like 5.1 or 7.1

the atoms sound is sync with image, but I got a ton of delay on controller input, so I set TV image mode to Game Optimize,

and set game mode to FPS, the controller input delay is gone, but now, i got atoms delay back...

By the way, because my TV doesn't support DTS - X PASSTHROUGH, so when I connect XBOX to my soundbar, I could enable DTS X, and DTS X is working perfectly and there is no any delay comparing to Dolby Atmos.

I don't have any input or atmos sound delay in this set.

So here is conclusion:

xbox series x has issue to passthrough Atmos content, even thought it is directly connect to sound bar, the sound or TV try to delay image to sync with atmos sound which causes a ton of input delay. But once you set the TV into low legacy input mode to get rid of input delay, the Atmos sound delay will be back.

And Razer blade 15 with RTX 2070 MAX Q which is PC is perfectly working at Atmos without any issue.

So this is definitely XBOX SERIES X ISSUE!!!!

You have to be in the insider preview to download the avatar beta app. It works on the original Xbox One, the Xbox One S and Xbox One X. It is not rolled out by console model but by which Insider Preview ring you are in. It has now been rolled out to all
rings.

Insider Preview has Alpha Skip Ahead, Alpha, Beta, Delta and Omega rings. Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha are invite only from the development team. You can use any Xbox One family of console in any of the rings.

yeah, no details at all yet, the alpha right now is pc only so I would assume after the launch of the Series X, really excited about it though!

First of all, you need to understand that you are always getting a Stereo signal from the two speakers in your headphones, as there are only two speakers.

Since you only have two ears, your brain will get the spatial information from where the sound is coming from by comparing the sound difference, echos and reverb between your two ears.

The Dolby Atmos App simply adds echo and reverb effects to the sound to fool your two ears to think that something to the right and above you is making a sound by applying a small delay to the sound reaching your right ear, and then playing the sound a bit
later in your left ear.

From my experience, if a game does not support Dolby Atmos, you do get "flat" surround sound, meaning you should at least hear sounds appearing to come from "behind" you, however on the same height level as your ears. Just as with a normal standard 5.1 setup.
Just be aware, that this also is just simulated surround through your two stereo headphone speakers.

As for the upmixing of non-Atmos sound to spatial Atmos sound:
This is in testing on the Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead channels of the Insider Preview. However, unless you also want to have issues with soundbars not working or Atmos receivers crackling and popping, I recommend to NOT join the Insider Preview just yet
for that feature, if you value sound quality. If however you wish to test stuff, and file feedback for things that are broken, feel free to join the Insider Preview. Just be aware, that you have to "work" your way up to the Alpha rings by being active and
filing good feedback. If you just join the Insider Preview, Beta is the highest Ring you can get to at first.
