    Alpha Party Audio Issues Workaround for Astro Users


    So for Astro users experiencing the Party/Audio Issues introduced with the latest Alpha Update here is a work around that worked for me.

    Since Series X doesn't have an Optical Port I plugged my optical cable into my TV and check the box to send Audio over HDMI. This was great cause now my PS4 and Switch would also use the headset but Xbo Party chat went over the USB so I could Xbox chat while still hearing my PS4.

    Well this issue affects the USB function of the headset. So what I did was switch the Party chat from Headphones to Speakers. Now it too goes over the HDMI and I can hear everyrhing!!!

    TL;DR
    Plug your Optical into you TV (only Option for Series X), then check the box for Using HDMI Audio Headset, and set Party Output to Speakers.

    Im having the same issue with my Astro A40s. Even adjusting the game/chat volume control on the mixamp does nothing but change whether in game music is louder or if in game character audio is louder. Nothing seems to affect the party chat audio by itself.

    Xbox One, Dolby Atmos - 3 months since it worked correctly

    As far as my understanding this issue is related to the color bit-depth selected or perhaps the refresh rate when set to 120hz.

    Personally, I'm using 1440p, 120hz, and 10-bit. I haven't had any major issues using Dolby Atmos with this setting.

    Although, once or twice I've had to re-open the Dolby app to re-apply the settings.

    Here is the current known issue and workaround. I hope this helps

    "Audio

    • Users who have Dolby Atmos enabled and console display settings set to 120hz with 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) are experiencing loss of Dolby Atmos audio in some situations.
      • Workaround: Disable 120hz or set Video Fidelity to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) or lower."
