    If I turn my console on from quick start my external drive will thrash constantly and no games or apps will start until I do a hard restart. And I can't report the issue at the time because that app will not start either. I have an 8TB WD external drive.

    I'm on the alpha preview and haven't had these issues. Try using the console without the external drive and see if that goes away. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps the hard drive in the console is dying.

    Hi,

    No sorry. External blu-ray drives are not supported. Only external hard drives.

    If you have a large collection of games on disc you should buy the console with the drive.

    Okay please read the whole paragraph before reply, this issue is very funky and specific.

    Just tried after updating alpha skip ahead to 714, issue still persists.

    Microsoft if you are reading this forum thread, do realize the issue is when I am trying to transfer from one external drive to another external drive. Internal to external works all day and night.

    Your patch didnt clarify that point.

    I have bought 2 WD drives

    WD 8TB

    they are supported for ps4 pro and in theory should support xbox one x as well.

    No one on here or reddit has reported issues with WD with power supply bombing on the console.
