Allow us to assign multiple buttons or sequence of presses to a button on Elite Series 2

Hi all,

One of our Support team, mentioned a solution that is easy and fast to do. May we know if anyone from here have tried to do remapping their Controller's button? Now, this advance Controller offers exclusive option to create profile to customize button mapping that you can do using Xbox Accessories app. Here are steps on how to create a controller profile:

1. Using your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, open the Xbox Accessories app.
   
2. Scroll to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, then select Configure.
   
3. Select New profile, give your profile a name, then configure your changes. For example, if you reassign D-pad down  on the face of the controller to the Y button , then the D-pad down  will act as the Y button  going forward.
   
4. When you’re done, press the B button  for the changes to take effect.
   

Create multiple profiles in the app and switch between them using the built-in Profile button.

1. Open the Xbox Accessories app, scroll to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, then select Configure.
   
2. In Profiles, select a controller profile you’ve created or create a new one.
   
3. Choose a slot.
   

You can assign a slot for up to three profiles. Press the Profile button on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller 2 to switch between them. When no bars appear lit below the Profile button, the controller is using the default button mapping.

Assign Shift key button:

Assign buttons to act as shortcuts for system actions like “Record that” and “Take screenshot.” When you select a button to remap, choose Primary or Shift, go to the Action tab, then choose an action from the list. When you’re done, press the B button  for the changes to take effect.

Note System actions are currently not available on Windows 10.

In simple words the shift option allows you to use "2 buttons" in one.
A good example is the one available in this article:

"For example, let’s assume you’ve assigned your Shift button to a paddle. By pressing and holding the paddle, the X button might act as Y, or D-pad down might act as RB. How you assign Shift and alternate inputs is up to you."

The shift button allows you to assign a secondary set of mappings to controls.

So, for example, in your screenshot the lower-left paddle is mapped to LS, however, if you hold in shift and press the lower-left paddle, it's then mapped to X instead of LS. That allows you to do 2 different actions with the same paddle, depending on whether you have shift held in or not.

Think of it like your computer keyboard. If you press the 7 key by itself you just get the number 7. If you hold down shift and press it, you get the & symbol instead. 2 different characters are mapped to the same key, and which one you get depends on if you're pressing shift or not.

This function does already exist. If you look in the Xbox Accessories app for mapping a controller, there are options to enable a "Shift" function and assign it to a button to allow multiple combinations of buttons to trigger different actions.

As far as specific in game assignment, that would have to be implemented by the developer. Have you attempted to use the Xbox Accessories app to assign buttons, and then map them in game?

We understand that you are experiencing slow response time when using the back paddles on your Elite Series 2 Controller. I'm here to help you with that.

To proceed, as per LegoNinja187, on this thread: Elite Controller Series 2 paddles not working - Microsoft Community

Just make sure the paddles are on the controller correctly and are pressing in the little button under them. also make sure that they have an assigned button in the Xbox accessories app.



On the other hand, I would like to ask if you have updated your controller's firmware to the latest version? If not, please follow the steps below to update your controller's firmware:



1. Connect your controller to your Xbox One console or a Windows 10 PC using a USB cable.

2. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

3. Select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories.

4. Select the ellipsis (…) button next to the controller you want to update.

5. Select Device info > Firmware version.

6. If there's a firmware update available, select Continue to start the update.



After updating the firmware, please test the back paddles again to see if the response time has improved.



If the issue persists, you can try resetting your controller to its default settings. Please note that resetting your controller will erase all customizations, including button mapping and sensitivity settings. To reset your controller, please follow the steps below:



1. Press and hold the Pair button on your controller for three seconds.

2. Release the button.

3. Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller for 15 seconds.

4. After 15 seconds, release the Xbox button.



Once your controller has been reset, please test the back paddles again to see if the response time has improved.
