    Allow passthrough setting not saving on Xbox One S


    Both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X output to my receiver when selected as the HDMI output format.

    1. I go into Additional Options and check "Allow passthrough".
    2. I back out to the main audio settings,
    3. then go back into Additional Options and the checkbox beside "Allow passthrough" is gone again.
    It never saves my setting. I've tried checking the other boxes on this page (e.g. Mono output, Mute navigation sounds) and the setting is retained, but never "Allow passthrough".

    Any ideas why it won't retain the "Allow passthrough setting?

    I have got the allow passthrough setting enabled on the xbox setting now but still no luck with working headset

    Yes it does not work with headset unfortunately.

    If Audio Passthrough doesn’t appear to be working, check the audio settings on your TV or audio device to make sure all necessary options are enabled, which will allow you to properly use the feature.

    This feature is designed for media playback apps and doesn’t apply to games.

    Not all apps support the feature.

    The feature is relevant on all Xbox One and newer consoles.

    The feature is currently only activated for HDMI audio setups. Optical setups aren’t currently supported.

    This feature is disabled by design if a headset is in use, whether it is a wired or wireless headset.

    Unfortunately, no. The HDMI passthrough on the Xbox One S does not support 4K.
