All the buttons of my xbox series S/X controller stopped working. What happened?

Two days ago, my controller was working fine, until next day suddenly all the buttons stopped working: X, A, B, Y, the whole D-pad and both R1 and L1, but the joysticks are working, the xbox button and both R2 L2 triggers are working too. But later on, my controller started to work as intended until a while later all the inputs mentioned stopped working. What happened? I tried updating the firmware using the Xbox accessories app from the microsoft store and didn't work. I opened and cleaned the inside and still doesn't work.
Something I noticed when I was cleaning it up, it was the cable that is connected to my laptop, did a tiny false contact and my controller started to work, until a second later my controller stopped working once again. Also, in one of those false contacts, I noticed that all the inputs that are not working, were being pressed at the same time, despite not touching them myself.
Is this normal? What is happening?

I do not own an xbox console. I use this controller to play only on my laptop

My controller stop working too series x , factory controller . Last night working and today my samsung tv remote control my xbox and the xbox controller no longuer view by the xbox , i use another controller from my other xbox seris s , and this controller work but not the one work last night , i try the little button to match xbox with but nothing , the controller do no longuer view on my xbox series x , can control de series s but can't be view or connect to the series x anymore

standard xbox one controllers have been replaced with the series s/x controllers that work with all xbox one consoles and the new series s and x and even pc. they are readily in stock all over the uk, try argos.

Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X controllers work on Xbox Series X|S, and vice versa. However, Xbox 360 is on it's own, similar to the OG Xbox.

What's cool however is if you remote stream Xbox One, One S, One X, Series S, or Series X on, say, a PC, you can plug in a 360 controller and use it on the newer generation.

But no, newer controllers aren't supported on 360.
