Please try this in your console to see if that helps:

1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

2. Unplug the console's power cable from the console and from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes.

Important: Be sure to wait at least 5 minutes. This step resets the power supply.

3. Plug the console power cable back in.

4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

If maybe that doesn't work please tell me:

Do you know if your console received an update recently?

Are you using an insider build / beta OS in your console?

And, if you try connecting your controller to a different device (phone, PC another console) it works?

-Are you able to connect a different controller and test the buttons?
-Did you try to connect your controller to a different device, like another console, PC, or mobile phone, to verify if the same issue occurs?
-What potential solutions have you tried to solve this issue so far?

I have the exact same issue, I tried to trade in my xbox one into game in the United Kingdom, controller was scuffed so it got rejected, fired it up when I went home and the right anolog stick only works when the magnifying glass is on and only for panning, tried to connect the xbox one controller to my series x to see if it would work on my series x and now all of a sudden the issue is also on my series x controller so I also can't play that! I feel hopeless and after reading online it seems like no one has the issues apart from ourselves! I will keep trying to fix and let you know if I get anywhere

My controller stop working too series x , factory controller . Last night working and today my samsung tv remote control my xbox and the xbox controller no longuer view by the xbox , i use another controller from my other xbox seris s , and this controller work but not the one work last night , i try the little button to match xbox with but nothing , the controller do no longuer view on my xbox series x , can control de series s but can't be view or connect to the series x anymore

Thanks for the reply, but none of these are the issue I'm having. My controller works totally fine, unless I have a game running. Then only the home button responds. Maybe it's an issue with the games (but all the ones I have?).

Example: Controller is working completely fine. I launch Battlefield 4. No button on the controller now works. I hit the home button. I return to the dashboard and the controller once again works fine.
