We understand that you are having trouble regarding with the installation drive where it is not installed to your own folder like (C:\XboxGames). Just to set proper expectations, we can definitely select the drives we wanted and install the game there however, please not that there are games that are very strict for the game installation file location which will automatically be installed where the developer of the game set up these games to be installed. This may be the case why your games still be installed on the default location which is the WindowsApps.

Additionally, it's important to note that moving the games from the WindowsApps folder to another location may cause issues with the game's functionality. The WindowsApps folder is a protected system folder that contains the files and data of the game you installed from the Microsoft Store.

Since, you mentioned that you are doing this for the mod you wanted to create for the games, it is important to note as well that not all games support modding, especially those downloaded from the Microsoft Store or Xbox app. Modding is usually supported by the game developers themselves and is often done through specific platforms or tools provided by the developers.

In cases like this, I would highly recommend you contact the developer of the game so, they can help us further for the activity you wanted to do like modding for your games.

I resolved issue by moving my WindowsApps folder inside another temp folder, then installed MSFS to the same drive where it made another WindowsApps folder which competed the installation, I then just moved the original files from the temp Apps folder back
to the new one. Sounds simple, but I had a lot faffing about to do as moving the windowsapps folder had files inside being used by other programs like the xbox beta app and not having permissions for files and folders, a google search helped in fixing those
issues which was simple in the end.

Only other way of doing it is a clean install of windows i'm afraid

Forgot to mention, have you changed the default location of windows store apps? as choosing my drive and clicking install did absolutely nothing untill I change default apps location

most if not all windows/xbox app games install to windowsapp folder, this is encrypted, if you took ownership or messed with the files then you have broken the encryption and will need to delete the folders and redownload the game. you can't just move windows games into different folders, you can move them to another drive via the apps and programs menu but they have to reside in the windows app folder that is created by the system.

Windows Games from both from the PC Game Pass and the Windows Store install differently to any other PC download service such as Steam, GoG, Origin etc as they go into a protected folder.

Error code 0x80070005 is a Windows 'Access denied' error code.



All Windows 10 games and Apps from the Windows Store (including games from PC Game Pass) install to secure encrypted folder called 'WindowsApps'. On the C:\ drive the WindowsApps folder is located in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. But to see this folder you'll need to unhide it.



For any other drive, the WindowsApps folder can be found in the root directory along with two other folders 'WpSystem' and WUDownloadCache. So for example, if your drive is F:\ it will be located in F:\WindowsApps. This folder is not hidden on other drives, but it is still encrypted and protected.



If you've have installed Windows 10 again from scratch, your previous WindowsApps folder will no longer be accessible and Windows 10 will not be able to install Windows Store Apps and games to this drive until your old WindowsApps folder is deleted. This is why Windows 10 generates the 0x80070005 error code.



Please follow this guide to help you delete your current WindowsApps folder. Once done you will also need to the delete the previously mentioned 'WpSystem' and 'WUDownloadCache' folders.
