Alias Account help pls

If a Microsoft Account has an alias from a outside email provider (e.g. Gmail), and you remove that alias, it won't close the outside account that hosts that email address.

For example, my Microsoft Account has an @gmail.com currently configured as an alias. If I remove that alias, I'll still be able to access my Gmail via Gmail, using my Google Account while I continue to access my @outlook.com addresses via Outlook.com using my Microsoft Account.

Mind you, this is just general advice. If your mum has been using her Microsoft Account and Outlook.com to sync all her mail from Gmail she may not be familiar with Gmail's interfaces (and may not even have all the mail in her Gmail inbox anymore if it was sync'd to Outlook.com and deleted). You should also make sure your mum doesn't use the Microsoft Account to access any other services.

What I would do is...

In your new MS account

• Add a new temporary alias (use an outlook.com alias - can be anything, it's only temporary)
• Make this your primary alias
• remove the alias you want to add to the old account

In your old MS account:

• Add the new email address as an alias
• Make this your primary alias
• Remove any email aliases you no longer use

Go to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft. Sign in to your Microsoft account if prompted.

Select Remove next to the alias you no longer need. If you are removing a primary alias, you will need to choose another primary alias before it can be removed.

If you remove an email address from a non-Microsoft domain (such as @gmail.com), it is usually immediately available to add as an alias in another Microsoft account. What is an alias?
An alias is an additional email address associated with your Outlook.com account. An alias uses the same inbox, contact list, and account settings as your primary email address. You can log into your Outlook.com account with any alias, they all use the same password.

I'm not entirely sure if this is possible to do. You might be able to add a new alias (Alias B) to your account and make that new alias the primary account (Alias A). Then create another email address(Alias C) and add your current email (Alias A) as a primary
alias to that account

But since you can't transfer data from one account to another I'm guessing it's not something that's possible

You can add an alias to an account so you can change how you log in, but an alias that is already tied to a Microsoft account can't be added.
