Age or permissions issue on Microsoft account?

Hello!

After migrating my Minecraft account to my Microsoft account I've had an error that's told me I am using a child account and therefore cannot make any purchases on my account, nor can I join or create Realms and so on. Minecraft Help have told me this is a Microsoft account issue. Just to confirm I am an adult and my DOB on my account is correct.

The generic advice I've been given when I contact support is to check the Xbox Online Safety settings, and ensure the 'Join and create clubs' etc is all enabled, which it is.

I've also been told to check the Family group settings, however when I go to the Family homepage all I see is 'You' with my profile picture and the ability to add a member and then a bunch of articles below. I only have the option to remove myself from the group or add other members, I can't manage any settings for my account on this page.

I'm really confused but my only guess is that there is a permissions or age restriction error on my Microsoft account somewhere so it believes I'm either a child or that I have a parent account controlling me?

There is a Minecraft article that tackles the topic about managing parental consent, settings, and realms/multiplayer access. Navigate to the parental controls section and make sure you completed the steps under "Account set up to enable...access realms" which is about halfway down the page. The page also includes screenshots of the settings.

Did you receive any error codes?

Did you try removing the family group? This article discusses how to leave the family group or remove members.

Have you already been to xbox.com/privacy and changed the settings there?

Hi Drew, Unfortunately, I've not received any error codes to feedback to you.

I've tried to remove myself as a member in the family group but I can't see a way of removing the whole family group.

I've already changed the settings under Xbox Privacy.

Hi Drew, I'm afraid I've already followed these steps and enabled all of the privacy options to allow me to connect to multiplayer clubs etc. However I still don't understand why my Minecraft account thinks I have a child account, which must be why I can't join realms too. But it's all connected to my Microsoft account which displays my correct date of birth?

Is there any way I can get in touch with a software developer/engineer who can take a look at my account/permissions?

If the Mojang article I provided does not resolve this problem, it requires the support from the Mojang Help Center and let them know what you are experiencing with the account because this is related to a Minecraft migration.
