Age of empires won’t launch

I have downloaded age of empires on a compatible computer but it won’t launch the game even though it gives us the option to play. What am I doing wrong?

Are you saying that when you start Age of Empires, instead of launching it does something different? Or are you seeing this issue within the game? If you have screenshots of this behavior or where you are seeing the issue, this will help showcase what you're explaining here.

In addition to what DominumStige said, if you're still experiencing trouble with Age of Empires Definitive Edition crashing upon launch, please try a full uninstall and reinstall of the game. This was suggested by the official Age
of Empires team via this
tweet when they became aware of this issue.

Same thing happening to me on when trying to launch Age of Empires. Sometimes a reboot will temporarily correct the issue but today, after two reboots, the game will not open.

So basically repair and reset uninstalled my game for me this time around and after reinstalling it it works again.

I can't specifically say what the cause was tho.
