    Age of Empires Definitive Edition will not start


    I have Windows 11, 64-bit. Year ago I purchased and installed Age of Empire Definitive Edition and played it quite frequently. Today it won't open. The report says that it is incompatible with 64-bit version of Windows. Contact software vendor to ask if there is a 64-bit version available.

    I don't understand this. I have been playing this on my PC for a number of years and never had this problem. I've searched Microsoft Store to find a way to discuss this issue and get it resolved but can find no way in. Where do I go to resolve this problem?

    Hello Stuart, glad to know from you.

    May I know if you tried to reinstall the game using the Xbox app available on Windows instead of the Microsoft store?

    If not, please do it. If the issue persists after that, may I know if you tried all the possible solutions regarding issues when trying to launch/start the game using the related support article?

    Is this happening with more games?
    Did you installed the game from the Microsoft store or you used instead the Xbox app?
    Are you using a Windows insider build?
    What procedures you tried so far to fix this in your PC?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply. I originally purchased the game from the Microsoft store so I thought that I would have to pay again if I used Xbox.

    What I did was uninstalled the game and then restarted my PC. Then went to Microsoft store and found my game on their site, downloaded and installed.

    IT WORKS!!!!

    I think the solution was to uninstall and start again. I wasn't sure I could do this as I haven't used Microsoft store before but found that I could without any additional charges.

    Thank you very much for giving me some ideas and confidence.
