After xbox fomated my external hardrive. My pc wont detect my harddrive anymore??

Hi,

When a drive is configured for Xbox storage it changes the drive formatting to the Xbox system. Windows does not use this system and hence the drive will not show in Windows.

To use your drive in Windows again you should run Windows Disk Management application which can be found by right clicking on the Windows Start button. With the drive plugged in, disk management should find your drive and allow you to format it here again for PC use.

You can only use an external hard drive on a PC and an Xbox if its only going to used to play video's or game captures. Once it's configured for Xbox game storage, it can not be used on a PC until it's formatted again.

You will need to reformat on your computer to use it on the computer, when you have done that you cannot use it on your xbox one until you format it again with your console, at the moment you cannot put movies on the HDD from your computer to play on your
console.

Actually we don't need to know your hard drive's make.

When you attach an external hard drive to the Xbox One and choose to format it for use with the console, the system changes the formatting of the drive to the one that the console uses. Once this is done, your PC will not recognise the drive for data storage,
but it should know that it is attached.

To enable you to use the drive again on your PC, it must be re-configured. To do this you need to load the 'Disk Management' tool. If you're running Windows 8 the quickest way you can access the Disk Manager is by Holding down the Windows Key and pressing
X then selecting 'Disk Management' from there. In Windows 8.1 you can right click on the START button and select it.

To quickest way to access Disk Management on Vista and Windows 7 is via the Run program on the Start Button and typing in diskmgmt.msc and pressing Enter or the OK button.

If your hard drive is in working order, it will be detected in Disk Management and you will be prompted to 'Initialise the device'. This will then make the drive available in Windows, but it will be formatted again only Windows use.

At present it isn't possible to use an external hard drive for Xbox One and PC use, it has to be one or the other.

To help diagnose this, could you please post back with the make and model of your hard-drive?

This happening to me to. What he means is it doesn't come up on the computer. It doesn't show up at all! It only shows up on my computer! It did this as soopn as I formatted it on my xbox one... Im starting to get *** of because this is ridicules. I bet
Microsoft did this on purpose!
