  1. After Connecting to a receiver XBOX 360 will not work with some TVs

I have had my xbox 360 for several years.

It has worked with all the tv's in question for years.

A while back I bought a Yamaha receiver to be the centerpiece of my home entertainment system.

When I disconnect the xbox 360 from the receiver and try to connect it to my large flat screens i get the "no signal" error

    Troubleshooting so far:

All ports and inputs are correct.

All hdmi ports on BOTH tvs work properly with other devices.

All cables work with other devices and are plugged in properly.

The xbox will work with other tvs with the hdmi

The xbox will work with ALL tvs with component cables even those that it will not work with the HDMI port.

It seems that any TV that was connected to the XBOX at any time via the Yamaha receiver will no longer work with the XBOX. I have also factory reset both tv's.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

xbox one wont work on my tv (invalid format)

i have a 42 inch tv hooked up to my xbox one, and a 32 inch tv hooked up to my ps4. i decided to switch tvs, but the 32 inch wont work with xbox one it just says invalid format.

so i went into my bedroom where i have my xbox 360 and hooked it up, and it works on the 32 inch tv.

do some tvs just not work with xbox one's?

i just googled it and it looks like a lot of hd tv's wont work with xbox one.

that sucks! it works with my ps4, xbox 360, but not xbox one.

btw the tv i have is a 32 inch olevia.

  3. Hdmi and Dvi problems

Are you connecting an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One to the TV?

On some TVs, if an HDMI-connected device is causing a shrunken output, there should be a TV setting that adjusts "overscan", which adjusts the size of the output on the screen.

Reset the Xbox 360's video settings when connected to your reciever.

  5. I have reset the display settings several times with no luck. I have tested the reset display settings on several different monitors and it works properly.

The key here is there is some form of setting that is locked between the monitor and the xbox as this problem only exists between the xbox and monitors tha at one time were hooked up to the xbox viz the Yamaha receiver.

  6. I also wanted to add that I have now formatted the hard drive. I dont know if there is a facotry reset even more extensive that a hd format but I would be willing to try it.

What do you have your display settings set to on your XBox 360? I would start with 480p and work your way up to see if the problem is the screen resolution on the flat screen tvs. It sounds like maybe there is an incompatibility with the tv and the XBox
360 on the flat screens you have the problem with. Are these flat screen tvs new? What is the max resolution on the tvs?

I have tried going through each resolution setting and also turning discovery on and off

The flatscreens are not new, they are about 5 years old. Both worked with the xbox 360 for several years. The only common element to this problem is that they both stopped working when hdmi was connected directly to the xbox after being connected via a Yamaha
receiver. Both still work with the av cables as well.

That sounds really strange. I have never heard of such a thing. You say it works when you directly connect the XBox 360 to other tv's (non flat screen)? Maybe there is a setting in your flat screen tvs that needs to get reset? Perhaps there is a diagnostic
you can run on your flat screen tvs?

Oops I just reread your first post about resetting the TVs. I would also try connecting disconnecting the HDMI cable while the XBox 360 is running and not displaying. Maybe that will cause the TV to recognize the XBox video signal?

  12. Still no resolution on this. I see by some google searches many people who sued a receiver have this issue and any solution would be helpful

    Have you tried this:

"As the console starts, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger on the controller. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.

Xbox 360 E or Xbox 360 S console: To reset display setting on these console models, you can also just turn off the console and then hold the power button on the front of the console down for about 10 seconds. (The lights will flash several times.)"

Sorry it did not help your situation. It sounds like a handshake issue between the TV and your XBox. I found a good troubleshooting page for these kind of issues:

    site.hdtvsupply.com/hdcp1.html

I am pretty sure you tried everything listed on this page, but I figured what the heck maybe there is something that might have been missed?
