Adult account wrongly setup for child

Years ago an Xbox live account was setup for a child but using the main adult account. Is there anyway to move this account back to a child account and connect it to an adult account. I understand I could setup a new account but then all content etc
would be lost doing it that way.

Cross-platform for child accounts don't work, no matter what settings I set

The cross-platform setting does not enable on a child account.

I have tried several options including:

• Account setup as a child in the MS family account and Xbox
• Account setup as a child in the MS family account but the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
• Account setup with over 18 Date of Birth in the MS family account but still a Child and the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
• Account setup as Adult in the MS family account and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
• Changing the child account to Adult and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted.

Can someone help me how to set up my kid's accounts so they can play together?

What determines whether an account is an adult or a child is the Date of Birth (DOB) put on an account when the account was ORIGINALLY setup.

So if the DOB when the account was originally setup is still under 18 it is still considered a child account and is required to have an adult account attached to it.

There is no way to change the DOB on an account once it is setup it is set in stone.

 

Correct, you don't want to set up a new account, all digital purcahses wouldn't be carried over. So there are two steps you can do to try to resolve the issue.

First: You want to make sure that your account has the right birthday set: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12411/microsoft-account-change-birthdate The system will automatically detect the account, based on age and region, for if it's a child account
on those two items. So you'll want to make sure that's set correctly.

Second: You might need to perform the steps to verify your age, the steps of which can be found here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...account-age-verification-for-parental-consent That will do a full verification of your age so
Microsoft can set your account to Adult.

Hi, from what I am lead to believe then just as you can't change a child account to an adult account the reverse also isn't possible. Changing the birthdate on your Microsoft account will have no impact on your Xbox account as your Xbox account uses the
birthdate that was set at account creation and that just cannot be changed.

 

Ok changed birthdate from x/x/1971 to x/x/2006 and it asked if i wanted to convert account to child. Ok will do this later but looks like this is the right direction to go - need to enforce screen time asap
