adding adult to family

when i try adding an adult to my family it just always tells me that there is a problem and to try again. Any tips or explanations why I'm not able to add an adult to my family?

Hi,

for someone to be added to the family, is that the adult or adults of that family must added them to it. you will need one of the adults to remove them.

Does it give you any specific error codes when it mentions that there's a problem?

Thanks for your post. An adult account can be added to a Microsoft Family as a child, and will be treated as such. Allowing the owner of the family to adjust permissions to the adult account that would be considered a child account after being added to the

It sounds like your account has been added to the FAMILY as a child account.

The best thing to do would be to log into your Account on the website and check the FAMILY status.

https://account.microsoft.com/family/

A Child account is not controlled by age in the FAMILY, but if it has been added as a child or adult account.

If you can find another account that has been set up as an adult on that account you could leave and ask them to re-invite you as a adult into the Family.

Adding to this, simply put any adult account added to the family account, can control a child account. You will just need the Adult already on the account, to add you. This is explained in the link above.
