It says that the account balance isn’t enough but it is well above the amount he is trying to purchase. This is the second time this has happened and it appears Xbox does not care. Can’t even talk to a real person about it. The first time it happened someone finally called me back days later and said it was a glitch and the only way to make a purchase was to have them purchase it on their end. So now it’s happening again so I guess I have to wait a couple days to simply put in the REQUEST for their help because they are closed. Needless to say this is very frustrating and I won’t be making any more purchases on Xbox because of this

I added money to my child's account but his balance remains at zero.

Just curious, was this resolved? And is this a bug or some specific conditions that must be followed to make the money appear in the balance. I have similar problem. Despite the fact that money was added to make a purchase for Fortnite, the problem seems to be purely on Microsoft side, but not xbox or anything else.

    1. My child (joined to family account) wanted to purchase in-game currency. She were redirected to the request page, where she request a parent (me) to allow the purchase.

    2. I received an email from Microsoft Family Safety with option to allow this purchase.

    3. After selecting "Allow", I was redirect to the Family Safety app where I was asked to add money to the my child's Microsoft account.

    4. I followed the steps and added money to her account. Received email with confirmation. Verified that money was taken from bank account.

    5. Unfortunately, the app still shows that No Ballance on my child's account.

    6. New transaction record appeared though with messages: "Money added to account €50.00" . However on the same page there is anothe record "Microsoft account balance €0.00". On the home page same thing: "No balance" but at the same time there is record that €50.00 is added.

Moreover, when I opened Microsoft Family Safety website in the browser, the balance showes €50.00. That makes everything even more confusing.

Still the purchase of in-game currency can not be completed due to absence of money in the child's Microsoft account.

    Refund on purchases

You can have your child on a controlled child account or make a family plan and put parental controls on his account by adding him to the family plan

There is no refunds for digital purchases as there is no way to return the item or ensure you deleted it

Account balance not able to use as payment

Hi Georges, thanks for your reply. Yes this child account is linked to parent account(mine) and authorized for purchases. I am trying by Fortnite V Bucks for him, but in the payment screen it always asking for adding new payment method. Same stuff we already bought with the same balance earlier without any issue.

Cannot add money to my account

    Hello Malissa,

Sorry for the issue with adding money to the account. Have you tried just purchasing the currency on the child account? Usually when this happens the parent account will get a text/email to approve it. You may want to try a Xbox gift card also, you can purchase
them anywhere gift cards are sold. These are certain amount of money, and then the child can redeem the code on their account.

This link will help with the approval of child making a purchase.

    Thanks,

    Brad

Is it possible give my xbox 360 to my son?

You can just make him his own account and sign it in on the Xbox 360. I'd also suggest making him a

    child's account
depending on his age, this way thing's don't get accidently purchased.
