Add friends on XBOX ONE

I can't change the setting to add friends on my xbox one. It keeps saying it's encountered an unexpected error every time I submit the change in my settings. Any ideas how to solve this?

Can I Add Friends To Xbox One, But Not Xbox 360?

As we know, there is a cap of 100 friends on Xbox 360, but not on Xbox One. My Xbox 360 is largely my minecraft device and I'd like my friends on Xbox 360 to be largely Minecraft players. My Xbox One is increasingly for my general gaming .This creates a
quandry for me, since I use the same account for both. I am at my cap of 100 friends on Xbox 360 and have well over 100 friends on Xbox One. Before the Xbox One came out, if I wanted to add a friend and I was at 100 friends, I simply had to delete one friend.
Now, if I want to add someone to my Xbox 360 friends list, it seems like I can't just delete one friend on my Xbox 360, but I have to reduce my Xbox One friends list to under 100 in order to add one friend on my Xbox 360. For instance, if I have 200 friends
on Xbox One, I would have to delete 101 friends in order to add
one friend on my Xbox 360. Is that right? Is there any way around that?

If you're looking at the settings for Privacy and Online Saftey Settings, you can try to change them at Xbox.com or on your console: Privacy and Online Saftey

If one isn't working, try the other. If you're having issues in both, another browser might be worth checking as well as visiting account.microsoft.com to ensure there are no other listed issues with your account.

Another issue might be that your account is designated a Child account which would require that an adult modify your Privacy and Online Saftey Settings, which you should check that your birthday is correct for your account:

Are you following the friends on the Xbox One or selecting 'Add Friend'? They will need to add you back as a friend in order for them to show up in your friend's list. Keep us in the loop

As StuartATrueRed mentioned, if your Xbox 360 friend list is full you won't be able to add more through the Xbox 360 unless you remove a friend.

And if you're not one Xbox One is the friend you are trying to add on Xbox One?

Friend requests work a bit different on Xbox One, when you add someone they're added to your friends automatically, but for you to be on their friends list they also need to add you, otherwise you'll just be a follower of theirs.

I've not tried adding someone on the One who is just on 360, and I don't know that anyone from the 360 has tried to add me on the One, but I don't know if it'd work crossing over between the systems.

Your 360 friends list is automatically one the One, but if you add someone on the One to have them on your 360 friends list you also need to add them from the 360.

Can't find any other useful info on the internet either about friend request problems, sorry.

Friends and followers is pretty straight forward, on Xbox one you will not receive friend requests.

What heppens is that when someone adds you as a friend they will then appear as a follower on your account and you then add them need to add them to your friends list and visa versa.

Add friends on Xbox.com

From the Xbox.com page, select Sign in at the top right-hand side of the page.

Select your gamerpic, and from the dropdown, select Friends.

Type the gamertag in the Search gamertag box. Be sure to pay close attention to the gamertag's spelling and spacing.

Select Add friend to add the person’s gamertag to your friends list.

Note Your friends will see you as a follower and will be able to see the info you share with friends, based on your privacy settings.
