you can only have upto 32GB external storage space. Even if you add 1 TB external storage drive, xbox will format it and use only 32 GB.

Adding external hard drives

I know that you can add up to two external hard drives to the Xbox One.

But is there a limit on the capacity of the external drives?

Like, can I add a 1 TB Hard drive?

You can use any brand and either 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives and it must be USB3.0 and at least 256GB or more in size. You can use USB powered or AC powered.

If it's not USB 3.0 it can't be used to store games and will only appear as a media storage device (music, pictures, video).

I use a Seagate 6tb external harddrive for my own console. A 4tb harddrive for the bedroom console and my son has a 2tb on his console. Ive had no issues with Seagate and wouldn't go anywhere else

if you play a lot of digital games, I would recommend the 8tb hard drive if you have the funds for it. They get discounted a lot to around $150 dollars. The brand is really depended on you. I use Seagate. No issues for me.

No if you want more space you will need to add an external hard drive I have two 2tb external hard drives on my xbox
