Adaptive accessories

We bought a Microsoft adaptive controller and a Microsoft handheld adaptive joystick. The controller works, but the joystick does different things, depending on which side of the controller we plug it into (if we plug it into the left side of the controller,
all the character can do is turn around and look up and down. If we plug it into the right side, they can walk around, but can't turn around or look up and down)

Microsoft has been no help at all.

Does anyone know if you can program a single handheld adaptive joystick to perform the both functions?

Thanks for coming to the forums with your questions. As the adaptive controller is a newer controller there are many ways to change the functionality of the adaptive controller. Here is the

adaptive controller FAQ. Most all functions can be changed or re-mapped through the Xbox accessories app.

The FAQ don't address this specific issue and the instructions are incomprehensible.

The two respective 'joystick' controls are designed to do exactly what you described, on controls directional navigation and the other controls 'free look', so not, it's not likely you can compress all of those functions into one joystick.

Thank you. That's very disappointing, since the individual only has use of one hand and I was told at the Microsoft store that the handheld joystick could be programmed to perform the functions of both.

Thanks for responding. That's really disappointing to hear, since the point of the adaptive controller and handheld adaptive joystick is to make the system accessible to people who have physical limitations. In this case the user only has use of one
hand, so wouldn't be able to use two joysticks.

Thanks for replying, Brad. This is the same answer I've gotten from Microsoft. We need to change/re-map the handheld joystick, not the controller.
