    Firewall

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.1.1 or
      http://192.168.0.1 into your address bar. (Or click either link)
    3. If prompted, enter "admin" for the user name and "password" for the password.
    4. Select Security from the menu at the top.
    5. Click on Firewall Settings in the menu on the left.
    6. Select the radio button next to Low.
    7. Click Apply at the bottom of the page.

    Do you know if any of your console's are set with a fixed IP address (static)?

    Just make sure you don't use a static method for any of your console's, and that you have Port Forwarding and DMZ turned off/disabled on the router side.

    Let's try with a few steps and see where it takes us.

    Let's start with your console.

    Go to Xbox Network settings and select Configure Network. Select the
    Additional settings tab and Restore network settings to factory defaults.

    Turn off your console.

    Access Actiontec GT724-WG's web-utility interface. Click Advanced Setup on the top.

    From the menu on the left select UPnP. Turn off/disable UPnP. Save/Apply.

    Disconnect the power supply from the Actiontec GT724-WG and have it powered off for a couple of minutes.

    Power on the Actiontec GT724-WG and wait one minute for it to connect properly.

    Access your Actiontec GT724-WG and turn on/enable UPnP. Save/Apply and this time, just reboot the Actiontec.

    Turn on your console and reconfigure wireless settings.

    Go to Xbox network settings and run a diagnostic test to Live (Test Xbox LIVE Connection) and tell us if your console is able to connect properly. If not, where does it fail to connect to Live?

    The Linksys is connected to the Actiontec, yes. And I believe the Actiontec's routing function is disabled, since I use the Linksys to change the network settings

    The 169.254 series address is chosen at random when the Actiontec gateway is not assigning an IP address.... and it won't connect to the Actiontec under those circumstances when DHCP fails to work (even though, as you said, it is turned on).



    A sequential power cycle is the first step here, and is NOT a complete hard reset:

    1) turn off the Xbox then

    2) unplug power from the Actiontec.

    3) Wait at least 30 secs then replug the Actiontec power.

    5) Wait 'til the light on the front of the Actiontec which says ONLINE, READY, or DSL is on solid (not flashing), then turn on the Xbox.



    If the problem persists, please let us know so we may work on this further.
