    Achievements suddenly changed language to Japanese


    Hi there,

    My language settings are English, locale is New Zealand. I have not moved to another country, nor bought a game from overseas, but some games achievements, seen in the dashboard, are now showing in Japanese. The games I've noticed this affect are Blue Dragon
    & Ninety Nine Nights. Everything was fine until a few days ago, and then a sudden change. I've looked all over for a solution, tried deleting and recovering my account, clearing the cache, deleting and re-downloading the games from marketplace and still they
    remain in Japanese. I've tried requesting a call from xbox support, but each time they call, the line is silent, and the line I could get through to directed me here. Please help me, I'd just like to be able to read what I'm trying to achieve.

    Ps. Just to clarify, the games themselves are still playing in english; dialogue, menus etc. It's just the achievements in the dashboard that have changed.

    I live in japan but do not speak Japanese. My console, despite my best efforts, continues to try and guess my language based on my ip and displays achievements in Japanese in spite of my language settings. There is no other content on my console that is
    in Japanese but achievements cannot be changed back to english

    Some Of My Achievements Are In Japanese

    So I changed my language from English to Japanese because I speak some and it looks cool, and I changed it back yesterday and now some of my achievements for Crysis2 are in Japanese, I tried to change the language from English back to Japanese and then back
    but it is still the same, also the name for Call Of Duty : Black Ops is in Japanese.

    Kind of annoying seeing as I am trying to get all the achievements for Crysis2 and I have to go on my account on here to see them.



    Someone tell me how to fix this please. Thanks.

    Installed language packs change the displayed language of certain apps away from the default

    Hello BradShadwick, my name is Vanessa, and I would be happy to help.

    Surely frustrating, in theory the solution to the problem you are experiencing is quite simple. When installing a language pack in Windows, it changes the display language
    of certain applications, but not the system in general. This means that even if you have the display language of your system configured to English, applications that use
    the installed language pack will display their content in the language of the pack.

    In your case, the Japanese language pack is changing the display language of Windows and Xbox apps. To fix this problem, you need to uninstall the Japanese language pack.
    Once you have done this, all apps will return to displaying their content in the display language of your system, which in your case is English.

    If you want to continue using the Japanese keyboard, you can install it separately. To do this, open the Settings app, go to "Time & Language" and then click "Languages". In the "Installed languages" section, click the "Manage languages" button. In the "Manage languages" window, click the Japanese language pack and then click the "Options" button. In the "Language options" window, uncheck the "Install keyboard" checkbox and then click the "OK" button.

    Once you have done this, the Japanese keyboard will be installed without changing the display language of your system.

    Here are the detailed steps on how to uninstall the Japanese language pack:

    Xbox PC App Wrong language

    I have the same problem. I have Japanese installed as a second language, but English is still my default. The only thing that seems to show up in Japanese is achievement names. Everything else is in English like it should be.

    Uninstalling the second language fixes it, but as soon as it's reinstalled the problem comes back.

    I can understand it either way of course, but it's still a weird error.

    change your xbox region and language to english, so choose a primarily english country region like the USA or england and try downloading from there.

    My friend lives here in the USA but every now and again sets it to japan and downloads japanese language games. (she speaks Japanese as a second language and playing the games help her from forgeting lol)

    My friend had an american bought xbox but set his region to japan and can download japanese language games.
