    Account settings (Adult v Child)


    Hope you can help an inexperienced x-box owner. When I setup the x-box for my son I created an adult account and a child account. Somehow my son has been playing on the adult account and I can't restrict his usage now. Is there a way of transferring his
    game play and purchases over to his child account so he doesn't lose his friends and game history.

    Cross-platform for child accounts don't work, no matter what settings I set

    The cross-platform setting does not enable on a child account.

    I have tried several options including:

    • Account setup as a child in the MS family account and Xbox
    • Account setup as a child in the MS family account but the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
    • Account setup with over 18 Date of Birth in the MS family account but still a Child and the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
    • Account setup as Adult in the MS family account and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
    • Changing the child account to Adult and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted.
    Can someone help me how to set up my kid's accounts so they can play together?

    There are three accounts in total, two adult, one child. The info I gave previously was from my adult account.

    I'm just checking his child and our adult statuses.

    My account is Adult and his is Custom (Child setting interfered with his gaming).

    Hey! I would just restrict the adult account. You can simply go into the settings and do the same things you wished to do to the child account to the adult one. Hope this helps!

    The way this is supposed to be set up is that you have a child account and an adult account. The child account is a separate account but it cannot act independently of the adult account. From the adult account you can set purchasing permissions and even
    set a monthly allowance that will not be exceeded. You can also set restrictions on what you child views or sees and how they can pick friends.

    The problem is that most of the time when these accounts are set up, parents do not create a child account, they just set up an adult account for the child, and we cannot set permissions on an adult account.

    The only thing you can do with an adult account is remove any payment methods and add gift cards to the account as needed. That way when the money is gone its gone.

    Is your account set up as a child account? Those messages sound like they relate to child account settings.

    If you do have a child account, those settings will need changing in the adult account it is associated with.
