    Account Recovery with Minecraft Gamer Tag


    My youngest son recently got a new tablet and we are in the process of trying to log back into his Minecraft application from the Google Play store but are running into log in issues.

    We have tried all email accounts that we can remember but cannot get much further from there becasue we cannot remember what email we used originally.

    I can find his gamertag name under "my friends" list in my Microsoft account which shows his name he chose from Minecraft but beyond that, we are at a loss as to what to do next. I even tried to send him a message from there to see if he would receive an email/notification so I could hopefully find what email he used.

    1. Is there a way to recover his account with just his Minecraft gamer tag?

    a. If his gamertag is given to a Microsoft tech, could you supply the full or partial email address to me so we can proceed with resetting his account with the original email he used?

    We do not want to create a whole new account for him as he has spent a fair amount of money on his original Minecraft account as well as all the worlds he has created.

    Any help and or guidance you can provide would be greaty appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Joseph,

    I have already tried to do the recovery ticket and I received an error that the account I entered did not exist. However, Minecraft gives me the error message stating I need to sign in with my previous linked account and provides the gamer tag.

    When I entered my gamertag into the recovery form, it states the account does not exist.

    Delete the account on your Xbox Hardrive then recover the account via the gamer tag recovery tab on your xbox

    If you can recover other profiles besides your own, you will need to give phone support a call about the issue at 800-4MY-XBOX.

    Are all your old games there still and your gamer points, or is it a completely new account?

    If everything is still there, you may have had the gamertag reset. This could be because it violated the code of conduct. You can check here: https://enforcement.xbox.com

    Also if your account has not been used for some length of time, your gamertag may have been released back into circulation.
