Account Recovery: Lost PW and MFA

How do I recover my Microsoft Account when:

1. Forgot my password

2. Deleted the MFA from my phone

3. SMS's aren't coming through to my phone (Live has the right 'last two' digits)

My 'security conscious' brother-in-law created a crazy passwords that he forgot.

I've tried the recovery approach, and all it says is, 'yes, you know enough to prove you're you... but since you have an MFA, we won't go any further'.

I can't figure out how to get a hold of a human at Microsoft.

I've read that there is a way to do a 30-day reset, but can't find a way to get the system to do that.

We have several hundred dollars worth of Xbox games, but don't want to buy anything else until we know we can get back in if we ever get logged out.

As this is a security problem, I recommend that you contact Microsoft support, when entering the site below, request a call, or try using the virtual agent and describe the problem you are having, by doing this the system will give you the contact options like request a call, talk to a community gamer, request a call as you will be talking directly to a Microsoft agent.

In your case, it will be best to contact the support through: Contact us | Xbox Support

If you encounter any issues requesting a call back or live chat on the Xbox support website, I recommend visiting Microsoft Virtual Agent

Then just type in “agent” and select the issue.

Select either of the option “Call me back” or “chat”

I have the same problem. I cannot accept terms of use due to an attached parent account with a lost pw. I sent a pw recovery email to the parent account- got the password- AND IT STILL wont help. Now what?

You mother needs to go to account.live.com and go through the PW reset process. She can have a PW recovery link sent to the actual email.
