Account hackers from Laxic exposed

Just wanted to post an issue I am having right now.

Members who currently play with the [mod removed] club name in their gamertags hacked and stole money via credit card from my child's account.

My findings from researching this is that the hacker did the following:

Changed the gamertag name on my child's account to include the name [mod removed]

Immediately added the friends with Gamertags: [mod removed]

Used the account to send a monetary "Gift" to [mod removed]- credit card fraud.

used the account to group and play fortnite with gamertag [mod removed], recording game clips of this interaction on my son's account.

Found from further investigation into the history of these players that
[mod removed] recently friended [mod removed] which are possibly more accounts that this group has hacked.

I believe the owner of the account [mod removed]is behind all of this, as it contains the name used in most of the renamed accounts and is the oldest account. But [mod removed] has help from his group. Be careful with your accounts! enable the 2 part authentication
before people like [mod removed] steal from you.

there is no shaming- identifying people who have participated in an illegal act, or that may be possible victims is not anywhere on the level of mocking their playing ability, religious beliefs, race, use of grammar, etc. These people not just violated
code of conduct on the xbox system, but they broke federal cybercrime laws- identity theft and credit card fraud. If you don't think others should be aware, or think this information should be hidden from your community, that is wrong.

Just to let you know that naming and shaming is against forum rules. Report/block those players and move on. DO NOT respond to them.

Yes I contacted Microsoft on this, and my child has regained access to his account. They have the IP addresses of all these gamers and are looking into how to handle this. It all happened very quickly. I have been online gaming with Xbox with 2002, and
never had an issue. The quickness that this person got in, removed my security backup email information, changed names, and started spending my money was scary, under an hour, and I was aware of the undesired login (although all I got was the notification
at that point, I did not have it set up to require secondary authentication to block the login). I tried to change back the password, but the gamertag got changed and money spent very quickly. I was not physically at my console when it happened so all I
could do was watch.

Just posting as a warning- to avoid these guys, they are bad news ( I am sure they will pop up with new names soon) and to make sure 2 part authentication is enabled.

Microsoft removed the hacker email from my report. Why? Privacy policy? It's been a week since Microsoft support declined to replace the security email on my account. So I decide to expose the hacker email in my report and MS deletes? What privacy
policy will MS do to return my account?
