Access old messages from Xbox 360 account WITHOUT my Xbox 360

This is pretty specific, but I’m wondering if it’s possible. I’ve got the app for Xbox and can see that you can send messages there. I’ve also confirmed my old account is still active. It didn’t have an email address associated with it I believe, but I typed my username into outlook, and after being prompted, attached an email to that username. Despite that, signing in with that info did not let me log into my Xbox 360 account on the app. Is this possible to do?

unfortunately it was possible to do it on the xbox 360 at the time of use, for it to find the profile information, linking now will not bring up information from your previously used profile.

I see, thank you. Would it be possible to access my account from any Xbox 360, even if it’s not my old one?

your xbox 360 profile is lost when you remove the account, to avoid this you need to link it to your microsoft account.

OK, I just installed an old Xbox 360 game, accessed the Xbox 360 guide, and no messages were shown (even old threads). I left the game and unsurprisingly still saw that little "1" next to the Messages icon in the Xbox One dashboard.

Ugh.

If you still have access to an old 360 console you should be able to use store credit on it. Personally i do not understand the need for the 360 store and for the One store. However, i can assume it comes from wanting to keep cost down on old 360 games
without compromising the value of Xbox One games.
