New to Game Pass, I've installed some games from the service. I've notice something very strange. Most 2D games will run like a nightmare for me. It seems to only be an issue from Game pass's 2D game , I've never experience anything like this before, I can
run most game if not all at very high settings, 60+ fps. Games like LevelHead, Touhou Luna Nights and Gato Roboto are unplayable in this state. They are running fine on my old laptop but here, it just doesn't work. These kind of game work like a dream when
running on anything else than game pass / microsoft store. I'm out of ideas.

Here's what i've tried so far.

    Tried to disable/enable V sync

Tried to run in Windowed mode

Tried to turn on/off windows 10 display graphics settings (Hardware-accelerated gpu and variable refresh rate)

Tried to manually set graphic performance for those specific games to high in windows graphic settings

    Drivers are up to date...

Tried to run games on my 1080 60hz monitor (thought it was some weird thing with g-sync)

Here are key points of my setup.

    9700k Intel Cpu

    2070 super

    32GB ram

    1TB Nvme

    Windows 10

    1440p monitor

    144hz

    Gsync

    :)

Very helpful! I'll tinker around riva tuner i guess! I'm currently using MSI Afterburner. Not super familiar with it to be quite frank, is this the same kind of software? Anything I could do to replicate your work there?
RivaTuner should come with MSI Afterburner. It's the icon I've circled below. To the left of Riva Tuner is the MSI Afterburner app.

You can lock the FPS in part of RivaTuner I've circled. To turn off the FPS limit, either close down Afterburner or put the limit to 0

Or you can set a global limit via the NVIDIA driver, but you'd have to keep turning it off which is not ideal at all. You can't use the program settings as the Windows Store games are locked.

    Anyway, hope that helps.

Thank you so much! I've done some testing with it and weirdly enough it worked but kept reverting back after some time in game. Gato roboto was aroudn 45-58 mostly in the 40s until i activate max frame rate 60 then sometime it works and reverts back to
lower fps in game after very little time / screen transition and goes on and off. Haven't done as much testing on other game but it also seemed to work on levelhead. Thank you very much i'll keep testing stuff on my side. Thanks for all the trouble you've
    putting yourself through.

    Hi,

I tested out LevelHead and Gato Roboto. Not really my type of games, but I tested them all the same to see if I had the same issues.

LevelHead ran terrible, it was all juddery (is that even a word?) and not smooth at all. However, here is the interesting part. I wanted to see what the frame rate was so I ran my usual benchmarking tool MSI Afterburner. It was reporting 54 fps. That was
    odd itself as I have an i7 8700 and RTX 2080! I also have a 144Hz G-Sync monitor. Clearly G-Sync isn't working.

Using Afterburners RivaTuner, I changed the global FPS to 60 (sorry I didn't test 144), went back to the game and it was buttery smooth. No, I don't get it either. Afterburner has to run in the background.

I tested out Gato Roboto and while it wasn't smooth, it was running better than Level Head was. I ran it again with RivaTuner and it was playable, well it was to my eyes anyway.

Not sure if changing Nvdia's Global Framerate limit to 60 will help, but Riva Tuner is less of a pain.

Some of the reasons for these odd frame-rate and performance problems is the way Microsoft do things for some of their PC games on the Game Pass. They actually port over the Xbox One version of the game. Steam has a proper PC version.

My Xbox game clips are lagging

My Xbox's output is 1080p and it's stuttering. The footage of the video is at 58.97 fps instead of 59.97 fps or 60 fps, this is the cause of the stutter. I checked an older capute of the same game and it's 59.97, no stutter at all. They messed the framerate at some point in an update.

I have a Xbox SS, my screen resolution is 1080p 60hz
