about maintenance and replacement

Hello everyone, especially Microsoft I you can read this and finally give me an answer,

I want to use the replacement service for my power supply. Normally, if I pay 35 CAD$ I can return my old and broken power supply to microsoft and get a new one by mail?| SO, the box which contain all converter stuff for the power just burned. I did open
it to see what was broken if I was able to repair it. Obviously I can'T. So My question is If the accessories I want to return has been opened, Can I still use the replacement service from microsoft to get a new one ?
