A threat of a ddos attack from someone on xboxlive

Apparently this guy [Mod Removed] has problems with me and some of my friends and is threatening to DDOS me and apparently has already done it to some of my friends recently. Please ban this person. To DDOS people is a federal crime. I have
    a screenshot as well.

    Thanks.

    [Mod Removed]

Internet Security through Xbox LIVE Gaming

ok do you klnow how the internet works

everything must have an IP that is a fact

    please google internet

actually you can prevent IP attacks if your firewall is not blocking DOS attacks you need to upgrade your hardware

are you sure you are talking about the same thing?

most likely its a DOS attack from 1 person

you cannot be attacked by millions of IPs from a DOS attack

thats an DDOS attack and your ISP will detect those

a person cannot use that to use a DDOS requires hundreds of PCs and aren't used for a mere gamer it usually targets corporations and in all the years of xbox live there hasn't been an DDOS attack against xbox

and if it is a DDOS you don't have to call the police for that

thats is a NATIONAL level threat worthy of FBI or any international police force and they will investigate it

You will need to file a complaint on him via the console and enforcement team will investigate from there. Calling out other gamers is not allowed on the forums.

Ok, I did file one on console but I didn't know if they need more info so I wanted to post a screenshot. Also the chat support suggested that I post on the forum about it.

The enforcement team will be able to see everything, they don't need other forms of evidence.

  7. First, no posting other people's tags. It's against forum rules.

Second, hosting services that shove pornographic adverts onto users are not--or at least should not be--allowed.

Third, there has never been a Supreme Court ruling on DDoS attacks and only one conviction ever made and that was not even two weeks ago. Chances are it will be over-turned. The federal government has more important things to do than waste millions of
dollars tracking down a thirteen year old who is using a server in another country to send your specific IP excess data packets.

Fourth, Microsoft has absolutely no way of tracking or confirming DDoS attacks so it comes down to your word against theirs.

Fifth, if you are victim of a DDoS attack you may contact your ISP about it but they will have the same mentality as point three.

Here is a link to what you can do about the problem. support.xbox.com/.../dos-attacks-faq

  9. Sigh... no I do not support people flooding IP ranges but I've been dealing with it for probably as long as you've been alive. Everything I stated above was truthful. Microsoft does care about the fact that they happen but there's nothing that can be done
on their end since they cannot prove a person performed a DDoS attack.

As long as I've been alive? Probably not. But anyway what have you been doing the past few decades about DDOS attacks.

  11. A layman's explanation of DDoS... you join a multiplayer game that's not on a dedicated server--which few Xbox 360 games are actually on but the vast majority of Xbox One games use them--and your console's IP address is shared with everyone on that game
and is easily viewable to anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of networking or access to Google/Bing/Yahoo/etc. That person then can easily look up your general location and make some non-viable threats about knowing exactly where you live, etc., etc., etc.
If that person chooses they can then send a constant stream of data packets to your console's IP address (IP Flooding) that will overload your router's sorting ability effectively shutting down your connection until the data stream ceases. Now if you bothered
to read this then you can clearly see none of this goes through Xbox LIVE so, as I said before, Microsoft cannot detect it. If Microsoft cannot detect it they cannot ban someone for the behavior since there is no legal proof of it.

Your ISP can confirm that you received an exorbitant amount of data in a relatively short time and if they choose to do so can legally pursue the matter but most of the time these attacks come from an external source (botnet--usually in another country)
that is untraceable to the user who allegedly instigated the DDoS.

These attacks have existed since the birth of the internet when someone realized that the old BBS system would get shut down if it was too busy. Recent news has had Steam, Origin, League of Legends, and all EA servers getting shut down by the group DerpTrolling
using DDoS attacks and nothing has happened to those people. If EA and Steam cannot stop it from happening with all their dedicated computer-savy tech people your local police department isn't going to have much luck either.

All of this you said I already know. The complaint I made was a threat to DDoS which is against xboxlive policy which I have proof of and that's why I made the post. Has nothing to do with complaining about being actually DDosed and looking for them to spot
    it for me.

DO NOT JOIN HIS PARTY OR ANY PEOPLE'S PARTY YOU DO NOT KNOW.

These sorts of hackers use the program Cain and Abel which gives them your I.P. so they can DDOS you.

Xbox cannot help you as this is not using Xbox Live to boot you but a botnet.

I suggest calling the police as DDOS fries your router which you have said is a federal crime and they can be sentenced to prison.

I suggest if you can set up some firewall on your router if you have accidentally joined their XBL party.
