A question about changing my xbox e-mail

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have question on changing email. Only way the email is affected is if it is a Microsoft domain email. Like Hotmail, live, outlook. If you remove an email with these domains it will be deleted then.

Warning When removing an email alias that’s a Microsoft domain (such as @Outlook.com, @Live.com, or @Hotmail.com), that email is completely deleted from our systems and can no longer be used to send or receive emails. It won’t be available
for use again as an alias on another account. Microsoft does not recycle email addresses, so it may not be reclaimed at a future time.

Yes you can use any email to make a new WLID as long as it is not tied to another gamertag

You can change the Windows LIVE ID associated with your gamertag.

Sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.

Go to My Xbox, and select your avatar.

Go to Account Management, and then select Manage Account
Go to Your Information and then select Windows Live ID.

Select Change Windows Live ID.

Do one of the following:

If you have another Windows Live ID, select Yes.

If you do not have another Windows Live ID, go to
Welcome to Windows Live ID, and click Sign up. Once you have another Windows Live ID, select
Yes and continue with the next step.

Note Your Microsoft Points balance will automatically be transferred to the new Windows Live ID.

Enter the password for the Windows Live ID that is currently associated with your gamertag, and then select
Sign in.

Enter the email address and the password for the new Windows Live ID that you want to associate with your gamertag, and then select
Sign in.

Select Yes, change to change the Windows Live ID associated with your Xbox LIVE account.

Select Update Contact Information to update your contact information, or select
Done to finish.

Notes

• When you change your Windows Live ID, your Microsoft Points are automatically transferred to the new Windows Live ID.
  
• You can make only one Windows Live ID change for a given gamertag every 30 days.
  
• Before you can change the Windows Live ID associated with a child account, you must provide the Windows Live ID information for the adult account with parental control.

Seems you've just copied a 'How-to' from the support section.

Simply asked; Do I need a hotmail/live e-mail address or can I use my gmail?

It asks to e-mail them your application to that e-mail address. I don't know if its allowed to send them questions to that e-mail or even if they will respond when somebody writes questions to that e-mail address. That's my dilemma, but hey I'll try it out
and I will make sure to include your name in the e-mail telling them that you said it was ok to send them my concerns about the program, Thanks for the help fyerball 72
