A bug in Dawnguard?

Have you tried Oblivion yet? That's the one I started on and I still have reservations about certain aspects of Oblivion being better than Skyrim. Try the one with all the DLC. You could definitely stretch that out till the end of June.

 

Angelus, that happened to me also, I was not a werewolf but I was traveling with Serana. We were that giant cavern with the lake inside and the an island in the middle, high ledges, can't remember the name of that place.

Anyway I eventually gave up reloading previous saves because it would always reoccur. My vision would go red and I'd get that message. After clearing that place out, I made a bee line for Morthal and had Falion cure me. You are too far gone at that point
for a Cure Disease potion to help you.

Not sure if you can do that being a werewolf? Definitely a Dawnguard glitch though. Never saw any mention of it on the wikis when it happened to me. She hasn't done it to my second character yet, I'm assuming it's Serana infecting me somehow. However, even
when I was careful to keep out of her line of fire it would still happen at the same exact place in that cavern.

 

Good to hear. I thought it was me going nuts. I got lucky then. So if it happens again I can go see Falion. I only stay a werewolf because I'm supposed to be immune to disease. I guess that's what Serana meant when she scolded me about getting cured. She's
not much for tactical talking is she. Probably why I like her so much.

Oh and by the way, she did stick around for the final fight and offered to go to the DG fort. She also gave me an option to keep her along at which she said "I was hoping you'd say that" when I gave her the option to travel with me. lol Mom is back home
in her lab and I'm just looking for lost letters right now. The Bandits at one of those camps have been "Sun Fried". What a hoot that was.

 

If you're a werewolf, do you get the option to have her turn you into a Vampire? I remember now I couldn't get the cure from Fallion until I had her bite me... quite a cool cutscene btw. It's not a polite little nip by any means. good luck

 

Yes! The option is still there. Since I don't use Werewolf for the actual reason of it, I won't be changing unless I try to get one more of my "Companions" to change, then I may consider going back to human. I might do it just for the scene but that would
be before I start a new play. Only two more cheevos to figure out before I start again. Face change and "Soul Tare" and I'll be pretty much done with this guy. I let Bandit chiefs get the first whack nowadays. I just want to try out "Soul Tare" first before
I move on. Only have one word for it so far.

 

I got Soul Tear but I don't think I used it…weird. I seldom remember to use shouts except for aura whisper and become etherial. You don't actually have to change your face to get the achievement. You just have to pay the lady for the job. I had war paint
removed and did some minor make-up changes but that was all. I spent enough time building that face and I like her the way she is.

 

Just to correct something that keeps being repeated:

There is no version of Oblivion on console that you an purchase with all DLC included.

There are the Game of the Year and Aniversary editions of the game that have the two biggest DLC, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, included... But the other 8 DLC are not included in any edition.

 

You are right, sir. My collector's edition has Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine but I had to buy the mage's tower online. It is the only one I bought, the others were not hat appealing to me being other houses or horse armor for a horse I didn't have.

 

My bad, maybe I wasn't clear. Your right though. Only the two big ones. I was thinking the others just as add-ons. Sorry. The fort one and the mages tower were both pretty cool. Not the horse armor one.

 

Yeah, of the others the Horse Armor and small Spell Tomes one are silly and useless, but I love the game and wanted the whole picture, so I bought them.

The Mehrune's Razor and Orrory ones add quests and a couple locations, but I never got around to them, even to this day, so I can't really comment on quality.

Personally I think all four base/house/hideout DLC are worthwhile and cool. I partiulary like the Fighter's Stronghold Castle, and the Wizard's Tower is my favorite, even as a non magic character.

 

Okay! As far as bugs go, this one has happened 4 times now. Luckily I had saves to get me out of it.

Serana is the culprit, not the Dragon. She's casting some kind of life drain at her opponent and hitting everything with it. Bandits, critters, Dragons, it doesn't seem to matter. Every time she does this, I immediately become a Vampire and start to feel
the effects of battling outdoors in the sunlight. After the fight, I'm no longer a Werewolf but a Vampire. I even tried to get cured by Falion and he doesn't offer me any option for curing. Maybe trying to early as I'm only a Vampire for the one day.

I used saves and restarts to fix it. Just a bit annoying as it is not happening every time. Mostly close quarters combat when I'm too close to her during the battle. Oh! and I do have the Companions perk that's supposed to prevent my attacks from hurting
other companions. Maybe that doesn't work with Serana. She's very different from all my other companions.

 

Maybe Serana doesn't like you, hmm? Just kidding. I only had Serana with me during the main Dawnguard quest and never had anything happen to me then but that may be because of the circumstances. She was fairly useful in the Soul Cairn. I have hit her a time
or two and had her complain about it. I still don't travel with companions, they can't keep up. I have a permanent Flame Thrall and she keeps getting lost. I think she's dead but then she shows up again so I guess she can regenerate. Be that as it may, she's
fairly useless since I usually outrun her or lose her when I climb rocks (which I do all the time).

 

Gee thanks! (also kidding) I'm pretty sure she is very different than the other companions. She cooks, reads, makes potions and is regular at the enchanting table. Sits around on the ground sometimes and is often found in a chair while she waits for me.
As far as I've heard, if I dismiss her she won't be available anymore. I'm about done with this character so as soon as I get a new face, I'll be doing something else for awhile. The red eyes are a bit intriguing though. Just thought I'd share in case someone
else has this unusual experience with her.

 

I like her because she has orange eyes.... no really, she is adorable for a bloodsucking, undead pasty she-devil. The graphic dept and writers put far more panache into her than most other characters. And she doesn't put up with any shenanigans from the
Dragonborn... or anyone else.

I was never able to rehire her and I tried a few of the suggestions on the wikis at the time, check again AT. That being said, after I did everything doable in the Soul Cairn I did go back occasionally because of the charming ambiance there. On one occasion
I killed all the the Skeletor wannabes at the jetty around the left side of Volkhair, went in the side door and heard someone breathing behind me (surround sound is a must) and there she was! She was actually a follower again, with all speech options available.
I dismissed her after traveling with her for a while, and it's never happened since. I posted about it and it did happen to a few others, so I don't think I'm crazy...

She only turned me into a vampire once AT. And I traveled with her for a LOOOONG time, and she will go weapons hot with that drain life spell at a moments notice. Once Falion cured me she got the message I didn't want to be undead. Another thing I liked
about her is she will follow you once rescued from that crypt, even if a follower is with you already, just don't take her home to daddy. She will fight any of your followers and vice-versa if there is any friendly fire between them. It's quite a show and
as bad-@ss as Serana is, she can't compete with Lydia or Illia. (and both of those ladies can be killed). Serana always goes down first, and when she gets back up, they pounce again.
