99 Day Xbox Controller Warranty?

Is the Xbox controller warranty really only 99 days? Bought a controller for my son August 2022 for a Christmas present. It's now Jan 17, 2023, less than a month with the controller and the USB-C port on it is already broken. His last controller had stick drift. Trying to contact their support is practically impossible for this. Are their controller really this horrible where Microsoft knows they will break in less than 100 days so they make their warranty practically non-existent?

I agree, i am in the UK, the American warranty on peripherals is disgusting but not much you can do.

depends which country you are in,

US is 3 months (or 90 days, depends how you look at it),

Europe is 2 years,

UK is 1 year ( 6 years if you invoke CRA for manufacturer fault or if the device is supposed to last).

Controllers (except Elite's) have a 90 day warranty, so it would not be covered....unless it came with a console, in which case, the warranty may be 12 months (or it was with my controller). Go to your Microsoft account and check devices to see if it's under warranty or not...if it is, then you can start a replacement order; if not, there's not much you can do besides buying a new one.

If you bought it from a 3rd party (ie not Microsoft itself), then they may be willing to replace it

Hi there.

The warranty for the Elite Series 2 controller in the US is 90 days from the day of purchase. After this period, the controller is considered out of warranty and is therefore not eligible for a replacement. If you took out extended warranty from the retailer
then this might be an option for you.

If not, I suspect $99 for a replacement is still cheaper than buying a new out from Amazon.
