9 months warranty on a brand new console I bought off Amazon, why?

I had a similar issue. I believe it's because regardless of the purchase document, the system sets a warranty expiration date based on the console's production date. However, your warranty is confirmed by your sales document.

You should simply contact support, explain your issue, send the document, and wait a few days for the system to update the new expiration date of your warranty.

Shouldn't have sent it in to them, you can get a brand new 4GB one off amazon for $180 that will have a new warranty on it. Then all you'd have to do is swap in your old, probably, bigger hard drive. As it is they'll most likely give you a refurbished one
that will still have no warranty on it and will probably break again in three months.

I bought a brand new one from ebay and it shows as 11 months warranty. So the warranty must start when the original buyer purchased it.

I bought it January 2nd this year from Amazon.com I didn't purchase a warranty, but are you saying that the console comes with a one year warranty from Microsoft no matter who you buy it from as long as it's new? If so that's great news as I should have
a month left and I will definitely look into that, but how would I do this? Through Amazon or Microsoft? sorry about going off I'm just really frustrated right now.

my power brick keeps red lighting as well. My console was bought brand new less than 2 months ago. if the power brick is the issue, is that covered under the warranty and can be replaced or is that seperate from the console?
