5+ years idle account. want the GT

hi there is a 5 year + idle account called ‘Groarky’ in which i would like the gamertag of

i contacted a microsoft specialist and they told me account names become reusable after 5 years of idle

so is it possible for this account to be banned?

The old account with that GT will still exist unless you pay to change the GT on the old account. Accounts cannot be closed or deleted.

Or if you don't log into that previous account for 5 years the GT can be released.

Unfortunately you will have to wait for the GT to free up. If the account remains inactive for 5 years the GT will free up. Just keep checking.

 

The only way to get the account is if the original owner changes the tag to something else or they do not sign in for 5 years (starting in 2016) and freed up by Microsoft. Keep in mind that the tag system is in use on other Microsoft services. So even if
it is not in use on an Xbox, it may be in use somewhere else.
