4K Resolution Issues

Hello, I am having trouble changing my resolution to 4K UHD on my Xbox Series X. I have a Samsung 4k monitor and I am using the HDMI cable that came with my Xbox. I have previously been able to use 4k in the past, however when I signed on today, my resolution was set to 1080p. When I go to select 4k UHD from the drop down box, the screen flashes and asks if I would like to keep these changes. I choose accept and the changes aren't kept. It just reverts me back to 1080p anyways. I've tried different ports on my monitor but nothing changes.

Are you using 120hz in your monitor when you want to use 4K?
Or your monitor only supports 60hz?

If it's the first. Please try setting the frequency to 60Hz and try using 4K again.

If it's the second, do you know if your Xbox console received an update before this started to happen
Are you using an insider build / beta OS in your console?

And, in order to isolate a bit more the issue. Can you try connecting the console to another 4K screen to see if the issue persists?

to be honest with the price range of 4k tvs atm 4k resolution is really a non issue currently

I tried this, the color degradation of Netflix goes away, however 4K no longer displays as an option for any of the content and it does not play in 4K. Also the issue of cutting out persists through 4k hdr UHD Blueray movies regardless of being set to 1080p,
it does however switch to 4k hdr automatically when playing the discs, but it actually cuts out more than when its set to 4k uhd

4K is about the resolution that is capable, not the power of a system. A 4K tv means its capable and will support 4K resolution. It all depends on if a game is made and supports 4K if it will display in 4K on a 4K tv.
