    I’ve done tons of research and yet to find an answer. I have an Xbox one x and ASUS pb287q monitor which is capable of 4K through display port.

    I purchase the specific direction and port version cable, HDMI 2.0 to DisplayPort 1.2 4K @ 60hz. When using a regular HDMI cable, settings shows 4K as an option but will only connect to 1440 without an error message. When using the new DP cable, 4K doesn’t even show up as an option anymore only 1440 and below. Hoping to find help!!

    DisplayPort adapter cables are not bidirectional And often cause problems with proper detection and hand shake. The HDMI port is only 1.4 so that’s why you’re limited to 1440. I’m not sure what you can do outside of using a different display

    Its depends on how much room / space and budget one has,

    for an Xbox One X,

    Ideally its worth getting a 4K screen, for a TV i would say anything beyond 32", and a Monitor, anything beyond 27",

    I myself have a Samsung 50" 4K HDR TV, and a Asus 27" 4K Monitor,

    I use my TV for 4K movies and the Monitor for 4K gaming on.

    Really to get the best from your One X you would need to purchase a 4K monitor. The Asus VG275Q is only full HD, also you would need some form of audio output and the monitor only has a 27" screen.

    You can buy a JVC LT43C800 43" 4K UHD HDR10 tv for considerably less than the Asus monitor.

    Full HD has a pixel count of just over 2,000,000 pixels whereas 4K has four times as many, so just over 8,000,000 pixels.

    One thing you may wish to consider is the size of the TV, as there are no 4K TVs under 49" - I've got a "small" Samsung 49" 4K, and it's pretty spectacular for all things 4K.
    He could go for a 4K Gaming Monitor at 27" for around £200, If they shop around, also Black Friday deals are about a month or so away,

    I have a 4K HDR 55" Samsung which i use my Xbox One X on for 4K Blu-Ray movies and a 27" 4K Asus Gaming Monitor for Gaming on.
