360 Xbox live outage?

It seems like ever since the sign in issue the other day for the 360 platform was “resolved”, I still haven’t been able to connect to Xbox live. I can test for a network connection, somewhat, but I get an issue with Xbox live; and I can’t help but think it’s related some how.

I was able to connect on my Xbox one just fine last night, but 360 is a different story. Just simply trying to enjoy and appreciate something that still works and brought a lot of good memories as a kid.

I’ll try to get an error code and update it here, but it’s one I’m not familiar with.

Update: the error code I’m only getting now is for an MTU error, still cannot connect to Xbox live or now test for network stats though. Guess the only thing we can do now, since it’s a known issue, is wait it out.

Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 is currently suffering an outage at the moment. No ETA on when it will be fixed.

Hi Chad! I hope you are well, delighted to be able to offer you my help!

I invite you to follow these steps to solve the problem:

Clear the console cache like this:

1. Press the XBOX button on the controller, go to "Settings" and select "System Settings".
2. Select "Storage".
Highlight, but do not select, a storage device and press the Y button on the controller to access Device Options.
Note: It does not matter which storage device you select. This will clear all cache storage devices.
3. On the Device Options screen, select Clear system cache.
4. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select "Yes."

Note: After successfully clearing the system cache, you will be returned to the Storage Devices screen. Press the XBOX button on the controller to return to Xbox Home.

In case clearing cache doesn't work, let me know.

Interesting… I can sign into my profile after this major outage was supposedly “resolved” the other day, as well as test for network statistics, but not connect to Xbox live. If it’s a another major outage then at least I’m not the only one.

I appreciate the reply; so far everything works well again! No more mtu error either, I suppose that was related.

Scary because I thought we were in for a round two of December 2022, what a major outage that was…

Hey there Chad. I just turned on my Xbox360 in the last few minutes, and it logged into Live successfully on boot. Just opened the YouTube app and that's now working. Microsoft must have resolved the issue on the server side - whatever it was. Props to whatever team has been getting no sleep for the past 3 days! Hope you're back up and running too.
