3 xbox one consoles on a single gold account

That was a really good explanation, thank you. I was hoping to expand our gaming opportunities, looks like we will stick with the two consoles and games that offer split screen. Again, thanks for taking the time and providing clear information.

The quick answer is NO But Let me see if i can explain this to you easily.

Licenses for the digital games and subscriptions go with the profile/accounts themselves so:

No matter what console a profile is signed into a profile will always be able to play its digital games and use its subscriptions.

Each profile can set ONE console at a time as its home console and any other profile on that console will have permission to play its digital games and use its subscriptions.

With that in mind you can only switch which console you have set as your home console FIVE times a year once you use that FIVE times you have to wait a year before switching again.

Let me give you a scenario in your situation

Say you have 3 Xbox consoles A B C and 3 xbox profiles A B C

Your profile is the profile with all the games and subscriptions on it so you set console A as your home console Profiles all 3 profiles would then be able to play your digital games and use your subscription on that console

but on consoles B and C only your profile would be able to play your digital games and use your subscription.

So you could be playing with your profile one either console B or C while one of your kids is playing on console A at the same time but throwing a third console into the mix with a third profile you would not because that third console is not your home
console.

The XBox One 'home gold' only applies to a SINGLE console - so you need a separate gold account for EACH console.

You don't need multiple Xbox One's, any account on a single console will have Gold privileges, more than one console is not necessary. As for 360, maybe they will add more options later.

Two might be okay - the Gold account can play on any console, while any other account can play on the console that is designated as the "home" console. Playing on 4 consoles at a time would require two subscriptions.

4) Can the old individual profiles be brought under one single account and preserve all the profile names, achievements, friends, etc?

The accounts/profiles will still be separate - friends, achievements and such will stay with the respective accounts. It's just the gold membership being shared that changes - one subscription allows all accounts on a single
console to have access to the online multiplayer.
