3.5 to usb xbox work around?

Alright so, I'm 99.9% sure the audio jack in my XB1 controller is toast, no sound comes through and i've tried all the usual remedies. I dont want to spend $35-45 for a used controller or even $50 for a new one just for that issue. Will a 3.5mm jack to
usb adapter plugged directly into the xbox itself work? The current headset i'm using is the HyperX Cloud Alpha.

My idea was to buy a 3.5mm-to-usb adapter and plug it into the system itself as opposed to using the faulty 3.5 in the wireless controller. I bought the controller second hand so warranty is out of the question.

While not positive, I am going to say the 3.5 to USB is not going to work. The system would have to support the item in order for it to function. I have not heard of anyone connecting this way before.

I did look up one on Amazon and in the Q&A someone asked about Xbox and there were quite a few responses stating "No, this will not work on consoles".

Hi there,

As far as I can tell, you can't use this particular headset with the USB port on the console - it needs to be via the 3.5mm jack on the controller.

Have you tried an alternative headset to check if it is the headset or the controller at fault?

If the controller is definitely faulty, you may be able to arrange a repair/replacement under warranty at http://devicesupport.microsoft.com/

The majority of the USB Headsets didn't work properly with xbox consoles, they're actually made to work by default with only 3.5 mm jack headset's (P2 or P3).

xbox one does not support usb headset, they do not support audio over usb at all.

the only way is 3.5 mm or wireless headsets that use optical for the base station.

all usb headsets that say they support xbox don't, they work on ps4 but xbox not a chance, i own several usb headset that state they work with xbox one.
