    What are the plans for other resolutions like 2560x1440 how soon can we expect updates. Still buying games on pc when i want to be getting them for my xbox.

    Hi,

    Sorry, but 1440P support (2560x1440) is only available on the Xbox One S and X, the original console hardware isn't capable of generating this resolution.

    I know it will support 4k, so please don't say it will. I am fully aware.

    2560x1440 and other resolutions

    1440p support was confirmed by a Microsoft exec a little while back around the Xbox One X's launch, but there is absolutely no forecast or news of it happening yet (as far as I know). All they said was that it was "coming soon".

    The 1440p resolution option will first have to make its rounds as a beta feature on the Preview firmware rings (Insider Program) for bug testing, and then it would eventually be released to the public as a system update. For now, if you have a 1440p monitor,
    the console will likely have to default at 1080p resolution.

    Screen resolution was also my guess . I'm on a 2560x1440 display on my desktop. I tried to change to 1920x1080 but it didn't work.

    Hi,

    A resolution of 1080P is 1920x1080, while 1440P is 2560x1440. Since your display doesn't support 1440P, the highest resolution would be 1080P.

    To get 1440P would require a PC gaming monitor that supports that resolution.

    The Xbox One S is able to upscale 720p/1080p to 4K. There is currently no setting for 1440p yet.

    As Wichrun X has shown, 1440p support is coming soon. It is apparently making its rounds in the early Preview ring for testing, and will be arriving to public system updates in the coming months. How long, exactly? Nobody knows just yet.
