    21:9 on Xbox Series X...


    Why isn't the Xbox Series X able to support native 21:9? We have the technology to do it. If there's enough of a demand for it, add it. I genuinely don't understand how Microsoft decided to not add an option for it.

    Hi,

    There is your issue. Xbox One only supports 1440P on 16:9 aspect ratios (2560x1440).

    Xbox supports your vertical resolution (1440), but not your display's horizontal resolution of 3440.

    I have no idea if MS will support 21:9 aspect ratio's on Xbox One in the future, although I believe Series X will.

    X ox is designed to be used with consumer televisions and a single aspect ratio.

    21:9 Support requires a complete rebalance of system resources. It significantly increases the render area and load, and likely the cost of development is seen as not worth it for the tiny number of people with these displays

    If this Support is important to you you should use a PC

    When are we getting the 21:9 update on Xbox One S/X

    Hi EiShaiViIbaiNomerata,

    I agree with Xbox Ambassador Obsessive Power in that we should never say never, however going 21:9 introduces extra pixels. Whilst the One X could cope, the One S would likely struggle.

    I got a chance to experience 21:9 3440x1440 gaming on a PC and was hooked, so would love to see it on consoles, but more pixels means more strain on the current consoles. Heres hoping that the Series X has support for 21:9 3440x1440 @ 120hz which I believe
    could easily handle it.

    Could We See Ultrawide 21:9 Support for Xbox Series X ?

    Not being a programmer I can understand it would take some effort to have support for 21:9. That being said I just wish MS would just come out with a statement that Series X will or will not support 21:9 so people can move on to other monitor(s) purchases.
