2 factor verification

The two step verification would be for adding your account to the xbox. Once you sign in and set the settings to no barriers for sign in it will automatically sign you in so you may want to go into settings and either lock it down to where you have to enter
your password every time or enter in a passcode when signing in.

As long as you changed your password on your account and the person that "hacked" your account does not know the new password and if they still have your account on their xbox the next time they try to sign in it will ask for the new password and if they
do not know the new password they will not have access to your account.

2FA is more for verifying the account like if you were to want to make major changes to the account like (passwords, email, phone numbers, Billing address) If your account is on a trusted device already it is not going to request for you to do 2FA every
time when making a purchase it may ask for it too. But if your account is already on a console it is not going to ask for it every unless you setup the console to lock it down or ask for the passcode as far as playing the game if you own the game and have
the license under your account and do not have that persons console set as your home console they should not be able to play your license for the game.

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. Please verify that you have 2-step verification enabled on the account that you use with Xbox:

1. Sign in to your Microsoft account (The one attached to your gamertag). If prompted to validate your identity, enter the security code that was
   sent to your device.
2. Select Security and then scroll down and select More security settings. You’ll be asked to enter your password or receive a security code to make sure you, and only you, are updating your account security.
   
3. Under to Two-step verification, select Turn on two-step verification, and then confirm the change when prompted.
