  1. 1440p 144hz monitor with xbox series x

I have a 1440p 144hz monitor which I bought in advance, quite rightly expecting it to work with the new Xbox series x at 1440p 144hz with freesync, vrr, hdr etc. on selected games. I have since found out (I do not have the console yet due to stock but
I have done great research) that it is the case that monitors which are not VESA standard are not supported at 1440p 144hz vrr whatever you name it. Only either 1080p 120hz or 1440p 60hz vrr off on both. To say that the incredibly poor advertisement of any
such issue (WHICH AFFECTS MOST MONITORS) has left me fuming and upset is an understatement in the extreme. Now it is clear to see that both sides blame the other, Microsoft saying the monitor companies should release a firmware update to comply with the frequency
the Xbox supports and the monitor companies saying Microsoft should expand their depth of support and that they had no way of knowing this would be an issue before the Xbox was released nor were their monitors necessarily designed for use on it so it’s not
their issue. Whilst it is clear to see that it is a Microsoft issue because the monitor companies cannot be at fault for something they have not been able to develop for or with the intent of developing for, this doesn’t really matter to the consumer. Either
side could quite easily release a firmware update to solve the issue, however it would make far more sense for Microsoft to do it considering this would solve the issue for all monitors swiftly rather than every company releasing an update for which they have
no incentive to do so because they did not design the monitor specifically for use with the Xbox (nor has any company) and it would be a waste of resources and valuable time for every company. Microsoft however, it is your very duty to serve your customers
and I find it appalling that after the failure to make customers aware of any such issue (especially when the outcome of customers buying new monitors doesn’t benefit you) that you don’t undertake it yourself to develop a firmware update to fix the issue once
and for all in the interests of your fan base. This is surely only the right thing to do? Microsoft, please. Please fix the issue because you are the side which would be much more suited to do so and i cannot understate how much it would mean to your consumers.
I was left devastated by this news, after saving for years to get the new console and the monitor to experience it on, only to learn the one I bought in advance wouldn’t work when consumers had no way of knowing this back in February. I appreciate it’s probably
not in your best interests but it would mean so much and frankly it’s only right you do so considering the lack of awareness for the casual consumer. I realise my word probably won’t prompt you to do so nor will that of many others (which there are) and I
will most likely end up having to end up either sacrificing the full extent to the power of the new console I was so looking forward to or buy a new monitor. However, I really do hope that if I along with many other people can get our voices heard that this
will prompt you to fix the issue. My question essentially is is there any point holding out hope for a firmware update or shall I accept that I’ll have to waste my money buying a new monitor to replace the one that should work.

    :)

Why won’t my monitor run 1440p 120hz on Xbox Series X?

According to the website specs on the monitor, it can run up to 1440p at 144hz using the hdmi cord it provided, which is the one I’m trying to use with my Xbox series x

    Xbox Series X doesn't support 1440p@120Hz with 1440p@144Hz monitor

Until you don't proof me this specific monitor (Xiaomi Mi Curved 34) enables 1440p@120hz with Xbox Series X, your comment is meaningless.

Yeah, there are some monitors with 1440p@120hz support for Xbox series s/x, that simply doesn't mean that ANY 1440p+ monitor with 120hz+ (especially 144hz+) can do it. Period.

I've tried everything, that (1440p@120hz) simply doesn't work with that monitor. I've already listed every step I've tried, I'm not gonna write it again.

Please read previous comments before posting the same dried comments...

Unable to 120Hz at 1440p Even Though Monitor Supports 144Hz at 1440p

I think it's a known Xbox One X issue with 1440p 144Hz monitors. I found an article that said that if your monitor isn't specifically a 120Hz monitor that it won't be recognized by the Xbox. If this is true, it would be fantastic to get a fix at some point
from Xbox because a lot of people are opting into 2K 144Hz options.

Unable to 120Hz at 1440p Even Though Monitor Supports 144Hz at 1440p

It sounds like any monitor that uses non standard Vesa frequencies (144hz as opposed to 120hz) will not be able to effectively run at 120hz with 1440p on xbox one x.
