$10 fee to change your username... why?

It is so disappointing to see that the incompetence runs this deep. There is no excuse for this and certainly not one I will logically accept, because logically, it makes zero sense. I'm not even surprised that Microsoft's xbox empire has gone this low. $10. to change a name. on xbox. ridiculous.

You do realize it's normal right ?

Names are a privilege not a right

Even in real life you pay a fee only on steam you don't pay but every other service it's paid

It's so you take your name more seriously

And if you break the naming rules it costs you each time too many of those = permanent ban

Hi Omar!

I understand your opinion on this matter. However, gamertag change fee is not all about money. That is to prevent players to abuse the system. In my opinion, anyone could get away easily from their wrong doings by just keep on changing their gamertag. Our gamertags are a public information that can be seen by all players which identify us from other players uniquely. I hope you understand that it's part of their security measures.

I don't disagree with what you've said above. It's true that some players may abuse the gamertag system. A gamertag is a unique name or username and as much as possible you choose one that you're going to use for the longest time because that would be your identity online. You could actually change it once for free but there will be a fee on your next change. In my opinion, many players could get away from their violations if they just changed their username after committing a violation to other players. It would be hard for them to find that player. So at least by enforcing a gamertag change fee, they could not just simply change it whenever they want to.

It seems that the problem is that you were not aware of the feature to make your in-game name separate from what you see on your profile, parties, etc your profile is most likely just displaying both usernames to make identification easier for players to
identify you. as for a solution well, there is no free one. the only way to change your username back is to pay the Gamertag fee and change both your usernames back. if you have any more questions about this, you can use this link for a walkthrough.

They are not going to change your name for free. You will have to pay for that change. You are responsible for what is done on your system/account. You are fortunate they gave you back the original fee! Why don't you just use that fee to change your
name back you will be out NOTHING!
