    On the Home screen there is an offer to purchase 1 month of Xbox Live Gold for $1,but when I click on it,it tries to charge me $10.

    As of July 1, 2014, there are no offers to receive credits for renewing gold.

    The gems offer is for keeping gold for 6 months. Since the offer started on October 1, it has not been enough time to earn those gems yet.
