Hi, i had the same issue a few days ago. I followed these steps to restore my xbox. You can do it via USB as well if the home screen takes to long or keeps freezing like it did with me. After doing this my xbox went back to normal. Reset Xbox One Console to Factory Defaults

Since the last update I'm seeing this happen multiple times a day. It will freeze in app/game and hitting the home button on the controller makes the screen turn a little darker but won't bring the home menu up. I can hold the home button down to bring
up the restart menu but that usually doesn't fix it. Holding down the power of the console for 10 seconds will fix it for a little while but that's it.

Support, what is the official statement on this error? Why is it happening and how do YOU want us to correct it? The official word is no where to be found.

Interesting that searching for this exact error code on Xbox Error Status Codes | Xbox Support

"Sorry! No Support articles were found for "0x80040900".

    Tips for trying again:

If the error code begins with the letter “E,” try searching on the first part of the code.

    Example For “E305 L: 0000000080000001,” search for “E305.”

If the error code is 24 digits long, try searching on the last 8 digits.

Example For “Error 417f-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-8007-2746” (where the letter “x” can be any number), search for “80072746.”
