[Feature Request] Xbox Game Bar for Console: It's Time to Modernize the Xbox Series X|S Dashboard

I love Xbox, but I genuinely believe the Xbox Series X|S interface deserves a major overhaul.

The current Home screen, with its large cinematic game artwork, is actually a great foundation. The real problem is the Xbox Guide.

It feels cluttered, slow, and unnecessarily complicated. Too many nested menus, too much text, and too many steps to access basic features. Sometimes, simply trying to close the Guide can lead you back to the Home screen instead of your game.

My suggestion: Bring the Windows Xbox Game Bar experience to consoles, redesigned specifically for controller navigation.

1. A Modern, Window-Based Xbox Guide

Replace the current Guide with a customizable Game Bar featuring:

• A clean toolbar with essential icons.
• Full-sized floating windows for friends, parties, audio, captures, settings, and notifications.
• Fast navigation without endless submenus.
• Smooth animations and a modern, minimalist design.

1. A Controller-Based Virtual Cursor

Introduce a virtual cursor controlled by the right analog stick, similar to interfaces already used in certain games.

• Right stick: move the cursor.
• A: select or click.
• B: close a window or go back.
• Optional magnetic snapping to interactive elements.
• Traditional D-pad navigation should remain available.

1. A Full Discord Application on Xbox

Discord voice integration is useful, but it doesn't replace the actual application.

We should be able to:

• Browse Discord servers and channels.
• Read and send text messages.
• Join voice channels.
• Manage conversations through a proper Discord interface.
• Access Discord without leaving our games.

1. True Multitasking While Gaming

Allow selected windows, such as Discord, to remain visible over a running game.

The Xbox button could switch between two modes:

Gaming Mode: The controller operates the game normally.

Interface Mode: The controller operates the Game Bar and virtual cursor.

Players could adjust window size, position, and transparency.

1. Performance and Responsiveness

The Xbox Series X is a powerful console. Its system interface should feel equally powerful.

The redesigned Guide should prioritize:

• Near-instant opening and closing.
• Responsive controller inputs.
• Minimal impact on game performance.
• Predictable navigation that always returns players to their game.

Final Thoughts

I'm not asking Microsoft to turn Xbox into a Windows PC.

I'm asking for a console interface that combines the simplicity of a controller with the flexibility of the Xbox Game Bar.

Keep the cinematic Home screen. Completely rethink the Guide.

Xbox already has the hardware. Now it needs an interface that feels truly next-generation.
