Disc to digital issue (can games opt out of disc to digital?)

no this is to inform MS they still have a choice, the titles havent launched...they could still sell DIGITAL DISCS that you can agree to install and verify online then be able to play without the disc...and ALSO have the physical disc copy and opt out of
the online checks...this would give choice and ensure people with digital rights have a hard copy and ensure MS doesnt lose out because of pirates.

Pay close attention:

If you buy the game digitally you will NOT have to have the disc in the drive.

I keep seeing posts about people worried about loosing discs etc.

Its simple, buy it digitally, pay full price you will not have to worry about discs ever again. The option is there it has not been taken away.

Now the family sharing thing that we were promised with no concrete details, yes I know marketing gave us some features but not the full specs. The family sharing is what you lost with this move.

Pro tip you can even opt out of using discs on the 360 you just dont get to resell the games.

I have this issue with a few of my owned games disc and digital as none that I iwn have left game pass yet I can only assume when they do I will need to out the disc in for my disc games and my digital games will work from the licence, but at the moment
I can only wait and see.

Specific to Xbox One, Digital allows for play without a disc present. It prohibits resale. Games purchased digitally can often times be refunded with a call to Live Support. I did this for the Xbox One version of the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition after
the news came out about the buy on 360, get it on Xbox One for free.

Disc-based games must have the disc in the console to be played. They can be resold. Disc-based games routinely go on sale unlike Digital, though MS has been better about sales on digital titles as of late.

There is no "size" difference as both digital and disc titles deposit the same bits on to the Xbox One HDD. In fact, installed-from-disc titles can be converted to digital titles (and thus obviate the need for the disc) by simply buying the digital version
of an installed-from-disc title. No re-downloading is required.
