Xbox game updates not showing in Games & Apps > Updates

to manually download updates for games,

go to My Games and Apps > Updates and any updates will show there

hope this helps

As I discovered it:

Option "keep games and apps up to date" unchecked - still make possible updates show up in Updates under Games & Apps.

So you can manually start either one showing up.

But for system updates there is a button in settings to activate to check for updates.

Unfortunately, none of the proposed solution worked.

An additional information:

The Windows updater works and installs windows updates.

For past week Xbox App was showing error 0x80070426 but did start after few tries.

At some point Microsoft store stopped getting updates for all of the other apps, and when it showed available updates, It was unable to start downloading them.

After I uninstalled xbox app and Microsoft Gaming Services all the other updates started downloading and installing. Now after reinstalling the Xbox app and enabling gaming services, everything works apart from the Xbox app which shows error 0x80070424 and doesn't start.

Found the issue! There was an update to this game queued in the 'Downloads and Updates' section of the Microsoft Store. I think the update was stuck there in limbo, as I'd uninstalled the game. Downloading the update now - and now it shows up as downloading
in the Xbox app.

This also seems to also block updating games through Ubisoft Connect, at least when it has been launched by the XBox app or while that app is running. I noticed that the XBox app was trying to update Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and when I checked the Ubisoft app the play/update button was greyed out, so I had to go back and update within the Xbox app. Note that this game was purchased/installed via Ubisoft long before this Xbox/Ubi partnership existed.

While it might be convenient to have the Ubisoft/GamePass games show up in the Xbox app's library of installed games, I do not appreciate it force launching another app and commandeering its game update process.
